Holocia was born from two distinct lifetimes of experience. Patrick Van Haren grew up in international agriculture, seeking a way to reward farmers for improving the land rather than depleting it. Karin Ascot spent years in Europe observing walkable communities and returned to Texas to advocate for environmental protection and better urban planning.

We realized that the greatest threat to our environment was the way we built our cities. We saw that walkable communities combined regenerative farms are not just compatible—they are essential to each other.
